This year, Airvantage switched from DBeaver Community to Team Edition and they already appreciate the advantages of this upgrade. We spoke to Lizanne Fitchat, Senior Software Engineer at Airvantage, and asked her to share their Customer Story with our readers.

In this interview, Lizanne spoke about her favorite features and common use cases and the different ways that DBeaver Team Edition helps save time and effort for her.
How does Team Edition help in your day-to-day tasks?
We use desktop and web versions of DBeaver Team Edition for data collaboration between our company’s specialists. Our team uses it as a centralized tool for database connections, SQL scripting, data investigation, and extraction.
What are your favorite Team Edition features?
The Team Edition concept is well-suited for our company. With this solution, it is easy to manage accounts centrally and perform user access management. Datasets are very helpful for situations where we have a large table with hundreds of gigabytes of data and don’t want to give some users full access or allow them to modify everything. In cases like that, the Administrator assigns the Viewer role to the user, and then it becomes easy to share only parts of table data using Datasets.
Speaking about desktop version features, I mostly use Team Edition for SQL scripting, and it works great. Also, the format function is awesome for me. I don’t see that functionality often in other tools, and it’s really helpful. I use it all the time for my queries.
After query execution, I get the result set in a convenient visual format, which makes it easy to overview and analyze the data. I find data highlighting in the grid very useful, and this setting is easily accessible via the context menu.
And, finally, I am working a lot with Calc and Group panels and using charts inside to visualize my table data. These panels allow me to quickly select, group, and analyze a specific part of data I need without exporting it anywhere.
Has the use of Team Edition affected the efficiency and speed of your work?
Yes, there is something that I do find extremely useful in improving performance. As I mentioned earlier, one of my favorite things in Team Edition is charting capabilities, and I really enjoy using them. Previously, when we did a data extraction, we could use Excel or some spreadsheet to visualize data. It’s much easier with Charts and Calc and Group panels on the right-hand because I can do all I need right inside the app. This combination of features allows me to perform all the calculations quickly, get a visual representation of the result, and save a lot of time.
What would you like to see improved in our app?
I think it’s more about a database than Team Edition, but sometimes, when I copy a query from some website and paste it into the editor, and there are non-printable characters, I face errors. It seems like this issue is connected to specific database delimiters, but we would be glad if you could fix it somehow.
