DBeaver PRO 25.0 transforms your approach to data management, making it smoother and more flexible than ever. In this article, you’ll learn how to work with data even without a database, further secure your credentials, and use DBeaver as a proxy. Now, let’s explore the latest updates.
Work with data in a new way
Previously, managing data required deep database knowledge, but that’s no longer the case. With DBeaver PRO 25.0, you can explore, analyze, and visualize data effortlessly.
The enhanced Files functionality enables you to:
- Open files in XLSX, CSV, Parquet, JSON, or XML formats and explore all the data from them
- Combine and filter data from multiple files — all in one place
- Instantly generate charts and reports — no extra tools needed
- Load multiple file formats simultaneously using the new Multi-Source Driver to combine data from these files as if it were stored in the same database
DBeaver Ultimate and Team Edition both support file uploads from both local and cloud storage for even greater flexibility.
Connect external apps with the DBeaver Proxy Driver
DBeaver PRO becomes not just a database management tool, but also a bridge to access your data from many different services. The 25.0 version introduces the DBeaver Proxy Driver, which allows third-party applications to connect to databases configured in CloudBeaver or Team Edition Web. It can be particularly useful for users of BI tools like Tableau, JasperReports, and others.
To get started, download the DBeaver Proxy driver and add it to a third-party tool by uploading the JAR files in its driver settings. Then, use this driver to access all the database connections you’ve already configured in DBeaver.
You can read the detailed setup instructions and all the technical details on this the DBeaver Wiki page.
Enhanced security with Secrets Management integration
Another important update is enhanced support for secure credential management, which helps you store and access sensitive data more safely and efficiently. DBeaver PRO editions now support AWS Secrets Manager and HashiCorp Vault. It allows you to securely manage sensitive data such as API keys, usernames, passwords, and more. The main purpose of a secret manager is to reduce the risk of security breaches by ensuring that:
- credentials are never hardcoded but instead retrieved securely when needed;
- secrets can be rotated automatically to change credentials periodically;
- only authorized users/apps can retrieve secrets.
Additionally, this feature helps businesses meet compliance requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, and ISO 27001 by ensuring secure storage and controlled access.
To start using Secrets Management in DBeaver apps, you must first configure your secret in AWS Secrets Manager or HashiCorp Vault. Then, you can utilize this secret when creating a new database connection or changing the authentication method for an existing one.
When connecting to the database further, you will not need to enter database credentials, as they will be pulled from the secret.
Expanded database support: Meet Apache Cloudberry and Databend
With every release, DBeaver expands its database support — and version 25.0 is no exception. This version introduces compatibility with Apache Cloudberry, an open-source Massively Parallel Processing database that combines the power of PostgreSQL and Greenplum. It’s ideal for AI-driven applications and large-scale analytics, Cloudberry brings next-level performance to enterprise users.
The second new database is Databend, an open-source, cloud-native data warehouse built for scalable and cost-efficient analytics. It supports high-performance querying, elastic scaling, and seamless integration with various data sources and tools. The Databend driver was added with the help of contributors.
