Role management

This article details the Team Edition's role management procedures, covering creating and updating user roles across web and desktop platforms. For more information about Roles, see Roles in Team Edition.

Note

After the administrator updates a user's role, the user will be prompted to apply the changes. Once confirmed, the permissions will be updated accordingly.

Initial role setup with identity providers

When a user logs in for the first time through an identity provider, they're assigned the Viewer role by default. To change it manually, see update role.

Note

With a multi-server license, the initial role can be assigned from the DBeaver website.

Automatic role mapping

For some providers, Team Edition can map external groups or attributes directly to roles. When a user logs in, their role is set automatically based on group membership - no manual updates needed.

Supported providers:

If a user belongs to multiple groups, the highest-permission role applies.

To configure mapping, open the identity provider settings and enter the group name (or attribute value) for each role.

Info

For more information on identity providers, see Authentication methods.
