Troubleshooting Windows Defender issues

Windows Defender can slow down Team Edition startup on Windows systems. Real-time scanning checks each file the application loads on launch - including JAR files, plugins, and your workspace. This can introduce a noticeable delay before the app becomes responsive.

Recent versions of Team Edition show a pop-up when Windows Defender affects startup time.

Startup symptoms and cause

At startup, Team Edition loads many small files. Windows Defender may scan them in real time and pause the launcher until the check finishes.

Common signs:

  • slow or delayed startup
  • a pause before the splash screen appears
